8 for Drawing Conclusions

Drawing Conclusions and Inferring
Two very similar strategies.  Both require the reader to combine prior knowledge and experiences with the text and clues given by the author to create meaning.  The following books create questions in the reader... questions are what lead us to draw conclusions and infer.  Drawing conclusions is coming to a new understanding based on what you read.

Useful Thinking Stems:
I think...
I predict...
My conclusion is...
My guess is...
It could be that...
Perhaps...
This could mean...
I'm thinking...
I'm figuring out...
When the text said___________ I could infer that___________...
My understanding is...
Based on _____________, my conclusion is____________...
